Bucket List Ideas – Live The Life You Always Wanted

In case you’ve been living without effectuating for your goal, plans or even dreams, it is certain that you are spending most of your life merely existing.

Once I realized that I’ve been leading a plain and dull life, I decided to have my own bucket list. A bucket list opens up to the concept of living. Creating a  bucket list was an incredibly insightful experience into myself.

Why Is a Bucket List Called So?

With my newly created bucket list, I’m sure that you must have also tried your hand in making your own bucket list. But hey! Why is it called a bucket list?

The term is derived from the phrase, ‘kick the bucket’, a figure of speech which literally means ‘to die’.

A bucket list packs a collection of goals, dreams, and aspirations that one would like to accomplish within their lifetime before they bid adieu. The list may feature not only long term goals but also a few short ones as well.

Why you need a bucket list ASAP

Having a bucket list seems to be a great idea rather than just existing in this oblate spheroid planet (Sorry flat earthers). To exist is to do things that you love doing/experiencing.

With an efficient bucket list, you can note down all your dreams and wishes to keep track of how much you’ve accomplished so far.

Having goals defined can be useful. But the bucket list seems to encourage a strange blend of highly individualized behavior and conformity, a situation in which everyone is hurtling, alone, towards similar goals.

A bucket list helps to get into perspective the goals you strive for and also it gets your brain thinking about the things that really matter to you in life. After all, life passes by quickly, and we have to make the most of it.

Check out these reasons below that might help you decide about making your bucket list.

1. Direction and Reason

Having a bucket list gives you a sense of direction about what you are doing in your life. For the people trapped in the conundrums of the corporate rat race, this gives another reason to live and love life. Most importantly, it reminds us of our individuality that we are not part of some machine. That we are still human.

2. Utilizing your time better

A bucket list allows us to focus on something during our free time. If you don’t know what to do in your free time, this is a great activity, to begin with. The list gives you something to work your way down.

3. Accomplishments and making memories

Finishing something always conceives a sense of accomplishment inside us. And if we are achieving something that we like, then the satisfaction we get is even more. There is a high probability of completing things that we love if we don’t set a time limit for it. The reason being that it gives us the feeling of not being bothered to finish something.

Life is all about making memories. A bucket list gives you a plethora of opportunities to make some memorable ones. It also makes for a great story that we can share with family and friends!

4. Expanding the horizons of your mind

With a bucket list comes the opportunity to learn new things. It may be a new skill, a new language or a new way of life. Exploring new places and meeting new people helps us understand different cultures and makes our own life better in a way that is not possible otherwise.

5. Life always goes on

Life does get hard at times. And if you are stuck in a rut, then a bucket list can provide you with something to cheer about. Bucket list mostly has to be something that is never-ending. Every time you come close to finishing it, you must add some more to it and keep the list going.

So without further ado, let’s start discussing bucket list ideas that you need to take a cue from.

Final Thoughts

You may find it hard in finishing some of the targets you mention in your bucket list. Most of the time this happens because the goals you have set are significant and can be achieved only in the long term.

If you already have a bucket list, identify the steps or smaller objectives that you need to complete for accomplishing the dreams or ambitions and add it in your bucket list. And if you don’t have a bucket list yet, start thinking about the goals you want to complete in the short term, so that you can reach your end objective.

Keep most of the things in your bucket list as achievable, but mix it up with some really tough ones also. The readily achievable ones will give you confidence and motivation to do the tough ones. However, bucket lists are meant to be never fully completed. Keep adding new ones if your list is getting short. You will be surprised by how much you accomplish by following this method!
